One of the great benefits of owning an iPhone is the great selection of cases and accessories that are available. Today I am taking a quick look at the Rugged Case from Nomad for the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. If you have not heard of Nomad before, they initially started as a kick-starter campaign back in 2012. Since then, they have become one of the go-to manufacturers for leather accessories, making a wide range of phone, tablet, and laptop cases.
Nomad has now launched their iPhone 12 series of cases and I was excited to check out the Rustic Brown Rugged Case. The case was purchased directly from Nomad for $49.95, however, in the UK you will also need to pay import duties. It may be worth looking for a case listed locally on eBay but I specifically wanted a brown version.
The case comes in a lovely box that feels premium, including a magnet on the side.
Nomad advises that the case is drop tested up to 10ft, I have not tested this, however, the case does feel sturdy and I have no reason to dispute those claims. The case features a polycarbonate bumper with Horween Leather on the back. There is sufficient case to protect the camera which means your lenses will not be resting on the table.
The Rugged Case feels great in the hand, similar to the top tier offerings from Mous or Rhinoshield. The leather also smells lovely out of the box, reminding me of a market stall that changes shoe soles or a fresh leather belt. The only downside I have encountered with this case so far is that the buttons do feel a little stiff and can be hard to press, this is a little downside that stops the case from being a 100% recommendation. However, I do hope the case wears in a little, and the buttons become a bit more responsive.
- Premium feeling leather.
- Solid 10ft Drop Protection.
- Buttons feel stiff and unresponsive.
- Expensive and import charges if buying in the UK.
